I’ve struggled to get gmail’s imap implementation to work on a Sony Ericsson K800i for a couple of hours. Then I found another blog post that threw me in the right direction. It seems that gmail are using ssl certificates that are not available by default on a K800i phone. But after importing the following three certificates I was able to both send and receive messages.
I’ve set the phone to use IMAP/SSL for incoming email on port 993 and SMTP/TLS on port 587 for outgoing email.
I hope that can help somebody else that wants to use their phone for email.
How did you import the certs into your phone?
Well, it was a while ago, but if I recall correct I just sent the certs to the phone using bluetooth. Once the file was received I got the option to import the certificate.
